Truck mount overturn in Finland

A large truck mounted lift overturned in Eastern Finland on Friday injuring three men

The men were working on power lines near Mikkeli, to the north east of Helsinki, they were said to be around 40 metres up when the outriggers sank into the soft ground causing the unit to overturn.

The lift went over as the outriggers sank into the soft ground

We understand that two of the men are seriously injured while the third escaped with less severe injuries. The police are investigating the incident but have already said that the ground giving way was almost certainly the cause.

The ground completely gave way

The lift, a Bronto is owned by crane rental company J. Helaakoski. It looks as though the operator did use mats under the outrigger feet, but they were relatively small, given the look of the ground it needed mats that were substantially larger.
