Teupen adds dealer
Teupen North America has appointed Waco, Texas based Equipment Depot to represent it in all of the areas where it operates, including Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New Jersey, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Texas.

The company which also sells, rents and supports fork trucks, aerial lifts, telehandlers and industrial cranes, will handle Teupen’s Leo spider lift range throughout its network which covers 11 states.
Equipment Depot started out in 1975 as Central Texas Clarklift and changed its name in 1995. it is now a subsidiary of PON North America – part of the same group that owns HDW and Gunco in Holland.

I disagree with you Alan if you had the volume of Mercedes yes, but even then there is a single importer behind all those Mercedes dealers and from my experience in the US and other places the big buyers in the access market will not pay for a dual level distribution network.
In fact I think the trend is towards bigger territories not smaller and you see this even with cars now.. many of the small town dealers are gone replaced by bigger dealerships in the larger cities.

You have answered my question. you use the word "efectively". Surely this means not just Sales? But also Service, parts and backup? Don't get me wrong, the Teupen product is high end. But, if you pay top Dollar you expect the service, parts and backup to reflect this?
The truth is that, more dealers in one country can only be good for the end user.Can you imagine a world with only one Mercedes dealer in the USA or UK?

This territory is much larger than the UK in terms of size and population. It is in fact closer to the size of Europe and Teupen already has multiple dealers in Europe. so the trend is the opposite way to what you indicate.
From my experience if they were able to find a single dealer that could efectively cover the whole of the USA along the lines of what they have in the UK they would go with it.
