Telehandler incident at F1
A marshall at the Canadian Grand Prix has died after he fell and was run over by a telehandler yesterday.
The man, Mark Robinson, 38, was a member of the Automobile Club de l'Île Notre Dame, was apparently attempting to pick up a dropped radio when he stumbled and was struck by the telescopic handler that was carrying Esteban Gutierrez's Sauber off the track.
The telehandler operator said that the fallen man was not visible when he hit him. And that he had no idea of his colleague's whereabouts. The machine was a compact CAT model rented in for the event.

The telehandler lifted the stricken car and then reveresed behind the barrier, but struck the man en route
The man, a ‘corner worker’, was airlifted to hospital but later succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

Hello my name is Michael, I'm a telehandler operator of 20 yrs. I have read this news report and had a good look at the photo.
from my knowledge and experience . there's so many things wrong with this, the forklift is too small for the task, the two guys holding the car should not be their, the type and model of this truck is full of blind spots mainly over the right rear of the truck the im guessing that is where the person was struck from. yes the operating of the truck is down to the driver but from method statements and risk assessments , there should be a banksman at front and rear of the truck, if the banks man can't see the driver, how can the drive see the banksman ? I have heard of this happening to many times . due to the high profile job it was , all people involved should of been wearing radio headsets not hand held, and if something is dropped , the first to do is to stop ! notify the driver.
