Lavendon chooses Trojan

Powered access rental group Lavendon has selected Trojan as its preferred supplier of deep cycle batteries to power its fleet of electric aerial lifts. The announcement comes just 10 days after Trojan announced a similar agreement with AFI-Uplift – see: Trojan for AFI-Uplift

Nigel Wain, group purchasing manager for Lavendon, said: “The Lavendon fleet includes more than 20,000 pieces of equipment and our customers require deep cycling battery technology to meet the maximum uptime requirements while on a job site. We are looking forward to working closely with Trojan to fulfil our commitment to meeting customers' needs and expectations at a moment’s notice.”

Mat Segal, senior vice president of international sales for Trojan Battery added: “Deep-cycle batteries, whether they are flooded or AGM, are the best choice for operating battery-powered AWP equipment because they are optimised for the deep discharge, characteristic of the operation of these machines.”

I have heard the new style electronic chargers have to be set up to match the characteristics of the battery manufacturer. I don’t think you can just change the batteries without making changes to the charger. Perhaps someone out there may be able to confirm if this is true.
