Aerial lift flips out

An aerial lift being towed on a trailer along the A43 near Towcester, Northamptonshire, UK, became unhitched from the 4x4 towing it this morning, causing it to flip over the central barrier into the oncoming traffic lanes.

Amazingly there were no injuries and from what we have seen little if any damage to other vehicles, in spite of it happening during the rush hour.

The scene this morning

We are told that it was a large trailer lift, but we are unable to categorically confirm that from the only photograph that we have received so far.

Update: We now know that it was a self-propelled lift with outriggers - a Nifty SD170 which weighs 2,750kg and was being towed on a relatively high trailer, behind what looks like a Land Rover Discovery.
