First Snorkel for Anglia Access
UK rental company Anglia Access Platforms has taken delivery of its first Snorkel lift, a 46ft A46JRT Rough Terrain articulated boom lift.
The diesel powered A46JRT features a dual articulated riser, two section telescopic boom and 1.5 metre articulated jib, providing a working height of 16.3 metres lift with 7.35 metres of outreach and 227kg platform capacity. The unit was handed over to joint owner, Mark Pratt, by Snorkel UK sales director Linda Betts at its facility in Norfolk.

Pratt said: “We run a fleet of over 250 access platforms, and know what we are looking for in terms of new products. We recently evaluated the Snorkel A46JRT and were impressed with the robust design and build of the product, and its ability to stand up to the challenges of the hire industry. We think it will be a solid addition to our fleet.”
Anglia Access Platforms started in 2003, originally serving customers within East Anglia, before joining Access Link to offer a nationwide service.

The product looks enormous to me or are they just very little people, but I don't get the logic behind this machine purchase. Another big, heavy, thirsty, diesel articulating 45ft boom, the rental rates are just not good enough in this sector to make it pay. I would think a small independent would go for something different not go head on with everyone else, the competition in this sector is intense.
It may have been sold at a fantastic price with an incentivised deal but generally that just feeds the spiral down of rental rates.
Big, robust, solid, heavy and rough might sound like great selling points to the construction industry but that is the way it will be treated and for the lowest of rates.
Genuinely though, good luck, and hope I am wrong.
