Lifterz recruits Hewden staff
UK rental company Lifterz has appointed two ex-Hewden managers Malcolm Oliver-White and Stuart Harling, both of whom had been retained by the Hewden administrator.
Malcolm Oliver-White, a 24 year Hewden veteran was- until last week - the Hewden fleet asset control manager, having been engaged by the company’s administrator to assist with the fleet disposal programme.
He takes up a similar role at Lifterz as fleet and service manager where he will be responsible for managing the fleet, including servicing, repairs, maintenance and the refurbishment centre in Ossett. Lifterz also looks after more than 550 of its customer’s machines under LOLER inspection, repair and service agreements. He will be responsible for a team of 38 staff operating out of three locations.

During his time at Hewden he fulfilled a variety of roles including depot manager of two locations in the northwest, before becoming regional access manager north west. He is also a qualified instructor with a scaffolding background.
The new appointment allows Austin Byrne, who has been with Lifterz from the very beginning to move to a new role as technical manager concentrating on the technical development and training of the service engineering team as well as overseeing the company’s engineering apprenticeship scheme. He will also play a major part in the selection of new fleet items as well as the used equipment sales stock.

Lifterz director Benjamin Bowers said: “Malcolm’s arrival has allowed Austin to focus on using his technical strengths and knowledge in an educational role to the benefit the engineering team, especially our apprentices.”
Stuart Harling joins Lifterz to take responsibility for transport management and planning. He was previously service manager at Hewden’s Castleford depot and was retained by the administrator to help present the remaining equipment for sale. Prior to his time at Hewden he was a Heavy Goods Vehicle service engineer at Wakefield Metropolitan District Council and has also worked as a car mechanic.
“Hewden was good at developing and training its staff and we are so pleased to be in a position to benefit from the experience Malcolm and Stuart can bring to Lifterz,” added Bowers.
