Management changes at JLG Dubai

Ewan Macangus JLG’s director of sales for the Middle East & Africa region is to retire at the end of June. He will be replaced by new recruit Ian Hume.

Macangus joined JLG in the UK in 1981 and worked in South Africa from 1984 to 1986, helping develop JLG’s distribution network there, before returning to the UK in 1987, working from the company’s facility in Cumbernauld Scotland, he held various service and sales positions before moving to Dubai in 2008 and has been instrumental in the development of the JLG's presence within the region.

Jonathan Dawson senior director of sales Europe, Middle East, Africa & Russia said: "We wish Ewan the very best for his retirement, through many years of service Ewan has created and developed the business for JLG in the region, from the Nordics to Southern Africa. His legacy to the Access business will live on long after his retirement. We wish to thank Ewan for his dedication and professionalism over the 36 years with the company."

Ian Hume has been recruited to take over where Macangus leaves off, joining the company in the same role - sales director emerging markets - also based in Dubai. In his new role, Hume will lead all market development initiatives for the Middle East and Africa region reporting directly to Jonathan Dawson.

Ian Hume


Prior to joining JLG in April, Hume was a key account manager at Climax Portable Machining and welding systems. Prior to that he spent around five years with Manlift in Dubai, starting out as commercial manager and ending up as sales manager before leaving in early 2016 to join Climax.

“We are very excited to have Ian joining the JLG team within the Middle East,” said Dawson. “JLG and Ian share a common passion on delivering customers premium quality product and service. With Ian on board we will continue to set the benchmark for our industry and beyond.”

That's a great innings Ewan - It's been really enjoyable crossing paths over the last 30-or-so years in UK, Europe and now the UAE and the industry won't be quite the same without the "old guard" at JLG.

You may want to rethink retirement tho as it's making us feel old! .. or maybe that's because we are!!
