Haulotte expands telehandler line

French based aerial lift and telehandler manufacturer Haulotte has announced a new range of compact mid-range telehandlers with 10 metres lift height.

The three models, the HTL 3210, HTL3510 and HTL4010 offer maximum lift capacities of 3,200, 3,500 and 4,000 kgs respectively and join the company’s existing four model range which offer lift heights of 14 and 17 metres. (The company recently added the HTL3614 and HTL3617PRO with standard frame levelling to the existing HTL4014 and 4017 models).

The new 10 metre models are 2.26 metres wide with an overall length of 4.96 metres and stabilisers that set up within the overall width of the machine. Overall height is 2.42 metres (2.38m on the 3210).

Maximum forward reach is a healthy 7.2 metres with up to 1,200kgs capacity at full extension.

The units all feature hydrostatic transmissions and full proportional joystick controls as standard equipment. The company says that a new boom design helps improve the visibility to the right hand side of the machine, while leaving space for good access for routine maintenance and a generously wide cab at just under a metre.

The HTL 4010 and 3210 are equipped with stabilisers as standard, while the HTL 3510 is equipped with standard frame levelling with up to plus or minus 10 degrees of range.

Vertikal Comment

While the new models do not offer any earth shattering breakthroughs, they could prove popular with contractors that currently select larger machines for their 4,000kg lift capacity and standard stabilisers?

The full 10 metres lift height and solid specifications could also help them sell at least to those buyers not already committed to a particularly producer. The challenge for new entrants into this market, such as Haulotte and to a lesser extent JLG, is to break the hold that the big three - Manitou, JCB and Merlo have on the market.

Buyers are typically less than keen to move to a product that they are not so familiar with, especially when the overall specifications are all so similar. While the extended product line will certainly help Haulotte, it will have to keep working away at this market for a very long time before it can expect to see win any significant position within it.
