Independent builders’ merchant Ridgeons has taken delivery of seven Volvo FE-300, 6x2 rigids with Hiab XS144B-2 HiDuo’s installed on the rear.

Established in 1911, Ridgeons has branches across East Anglia. It particularly liked Hiab’s solution to the new Machinery Directive, 2006/42/EC and build standard EN12999A3. The heart of the system - Vehicle Stability Limitation (VSL) - uses analogue and pressure sensing on the legs and slew system, to provide interlocks which are infinitely progressive. For every millimetre the leg is extended the capacity of the crane is increased so that no matter what postion the outriggers the angle of the boom, the capacity of the crane is always at a safe maximum.
