Manitowoc commissions big model

Manitowoc has announced that it has commissioned a 1:50th scale model of its new 31000 crawler crane.

The model will be ready in time for Conexpo 2011 and includes all of the detail of the real machine. When fully assembled, it will stand over 2.5 metres high when rigged with an 80 metre boom and 40 metre luffing jib.

Amanda Barbarossa, Manitowoc’s promotional programme manager said: “We‘ve had a lot of success with our large crane models since the Manitowoc 18000 model came out in 2005. Given its size and the new technology it includes, it is an exciting new model.”

Production will be limited to 500 units, and will retail for $1,800. Individuals interested in reserving a 31000 model should visit The Manitowoc Model Shop website at www.manitowocmodelshop.com.
