A shaggy goat story

A JLG Ultra boom was called in earlier this week to help rescue two young goats from a bridge in Helena Montana.

The two goats had somehow managed to wander out onto a 150mm wide ledge on the underside of a railway bridge and were stranded for almost two days some 20 metres above the ground.

High above the road to little goats

The little nanny goats appeared to be afraid to move from the narrow tapered ledge, the theory was that they wandered along the ledge in the dark and then once they saw where they were, were afraid to move.

The young nanny goats were stranded for two days

The emergency services were called on Tuesday, when the goats were first spotted. But confusion about the location delayed the rescue until another caller alerted the Rimrock Humane Society on Wednesday along with the Musselshell County sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office along with Sandy Church and Cory Freeman from the humane society, enlisted the help of managers at Signal Peak Energy, which operates a nearby coal mine that uses the bridge.

A JLG Ultra boom from the mine comes to the rescue

A JLG 1250AJP Ultra boom was brought to the road below and the platform was up close to the goats within minutes. They seemed relieved to be rescued and are both doing fine. Yet another new application for powered access equipment.
