Business owner dies in platform fall

Stephen Garratt, 57, a business owner from from Newton with Scales, Fylde in Lancashire, UK, died last Saturday after he fell from an aerial lift he was using at an auction of equipment at his Inskip-based electrical contracting business Garratt Electrical.

Garratt was apparently demonstrating equipment (possibly the lift itself - most likely a boom lift of some kind) when he fell. He was around 10 metres up at the time. Police and ambulance crews were called to the premises and he was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital where he died of his injuries.

A Health & Safety investigation is underway.
