100 tonne Terex for NMT

Bedford, UK, based NMT Crane Hire has taken delivery of the first 100 tonne Terex AC 100/4L All Terrain crane to be delivered in the UK.

Launched in March 2010, the compact four axle 100 toner boast a 59.4 metre main boom plus a 10 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, providing an on board tip height of 82.4 metres – all carried within the 12 tonne axle loads.

In the UK where axle loads of up to 16 tonnes are possible, the AC 100/4L can travel with up to 21.3 tonnes of counterweight in addition to the full boom extension.

The 2.55 metre wide unit has an overall height of 3.9 metres, runs on 16.00R25 tyres and features hydraulic luffing of the extension.

NMT is also waiting on the delivery of a 1,000 tonne Terex AC1000 crane, complete with 126 metre luffing jib.

Andrew Snow (L) with Mark Ambridge and the new AC 100/4L

NMT was founded in 1976 by brothers Nick, Mark and Tim Ambridge and has a number of Terex/Demag All Terrain cranes in its fleet. It covers a region round Bedford and Milton Keynes down to London, with its larger and specialist cranes, which include three Spierings mobile towers, working on a national basis.

Managing director, Mark Ambridge said: “The crane rental market remains difficult and extremely competitive. It is therefore important to be able to offer customers something new and innovative that delivers real operational benefits. The AC 100/4L is one such crane.”

“Representing the latest and best in compact crane technology, this new model is designed for the tightest locations and the heaviest loads, and can go places other four axle cranes simply cannot go. It’s something we know our customers will appreciate.”

Terex regional sales manager, Andrew Snow, added. “Offering greater manoeuvrability and flexibility, compact cranes with long booms are fast becoming the norm in the marketplace. On the evidence so far, the AC 100/4L is set to make a major impact in the UK.”
