Merlo Space 11 solves the problem
A Merlo 360 degree Roto telehandler fitted with Space 11 work platform solved an unusual problem in Germany.
German contractor Eulberg Stahlbau had to find a way to gain access to fit an elliptical concrete and steel 'pod' housing a new radiation therapy treatment unit at the hospital of Limburg an der Lahn, 100km southeast of Dortmund.
The problem was that the only place that any platform could work from was the solid ground underneath the building. After consulting with a local rental company – Bimag, managing director Bernd Eulberg, came up with the idea of using the Merlo effectively achieving the same sort of access as an under-bridge unit – but in reverse.

The only place for a work platform was under the structure
The Merlo used was a 21 metre Roto 45:21 MCSS – the Space 11 adds a further 11 metres of height with 200kgs platform capacity. Given the special nature of the job Bimag arranged additional training for Eulberg's certified telehandler operators.

The main boom of the Roto 45:21 plus the Space 11 allowed perfect coverage
Eulberg said: "Using this technology we were able to get into any place at our special construction - without leaving the hard standing. Amazing - welding, bolting and fixing placing were all possible in any necessary position."
