Terex Utilities launches new aerial device

Terex Utilities unveiled a new range of over-centre aerial lifts within its Hi-Ranger line up at last weeks Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference (EUFMC) in Williamsburg, Virginia.

The new models - the SCM48, SCM50 and SCM55 offer working heights of 16.2, 16.8 and 18.3 metres (platform heights of 48, 50 and 55ft) Please register to see all images

The Terex Utilities SCM55 HyPower



The new models feature Terex’s patented Tri-Link elbow design for easy access for maintenance to bushings and bearings, with no chains or cables to inspect. The lower boom cylinder design provides more bed space and a low travel height of just 3.3 metres.

All models in the range have a gross vehicle weight rating of 31,000 lb (14,061 kg). The 16.2 metre SCM48 boasts a 12 metre over-centre outreach – 10.6 metres of non over-centre out reach.

The new Terex Utilities SCM55 in HyPower hybrid format


The 16.8 metre SCM50 offers 12.6 metres and 11 metres outreach while the 18.2 metre SCM55 offers a full 14.1 metres and 12 metres of outreach. The series come standard with a side mount, one-person, 315kg capacity platform, as well as Control Plus “3-D” single-stick controls, a category “C” rating per ANSI A92.2, 200 degrees of upper boom articulation and 110 degrees of lower boom articulation.

The units are also available with the Terex HyPower hybrid system which provides lower fuel consumption and lower noise levels. The system has been optimised for the utility industry — making it significantly easier for utility operations to "go green."
