Two new telehandlers from JCB

JCB has added two Wastemaster telescopic handlers - the compact 527-58WM Loadall and the high capacity 550-80WM Loadall.

The 527-58WM – available now - is the most compact telescopic handler in JCB's side-engined Loadall range. Measuring two metres wide and two metres high (dependent on cab, wheel and tyre combinations) it has a maximum lifting capacity of 2.7 tonnes with a lift height of 5.8 metres. When operating at its maximum three metres of forward reach it can still handle a 1.25 tonnes.

Powered by the 100hp (74 kW) JCB Dieselmax engine, the 527-58WM’s hydrostatic transmission provides smooth control and high tractive effort wiht a maximum travel speed of 20km/h.

As with most of its products, the new telehandler uses JCB designed engines, axles, cabs, hydraulics, chassis and booms which, says JCB, ‘ensures perfect integration of components ensuring reliability and durability throughout the life of the machine.

JCB says the 527-58WM has a good steering crank angle and multimode steering providing good manoeuvrability on restricted sites. The machine also benefits from a full size cab mounted low on the chassis, offering excellent all-round visibility. The cab features recessed door handle and door hinges in order to help avoid damage in narrow spaces.

The 126 litres/min hydraulic system is sufficient to power a variety of attachments and a choice of carriage allows the use of a wide range of buckets and grabs, maximising versatility and productivity. It also allows customers to use their existing attachments.

The 550-80 Wastemaster will go into production shortly and be seen at the RWM waste show in September. With an 8.1 metre lift height and five tonne maximum lift capacity the machine has been developed in direct response to customer demand for a machine with greater lift performance at reach.

The 550-80WM is JCB’s highest capacity Loadall and it has been specifically designed for bulk handling operations in heavier duty waste applications.

The 550-80WM is JCB’s highest capacity Loadall and it has been specifically designed for bulk handling operations in heavier duty waste applications such as metals recycling.
Powered by either a 130hp (97 kW) or 145hp (108kW) engine, the machine produces 145 litres/minute variable flow hydraulics and Hiflow pipework for optimised cycle times and auxiliary service performance.

With servo controls as standard and the option of seat mounted servo controls, the operator benefits from low lever effort and good ergonomics in order to increase efficiency. In addition, the optional Smooth Ride System offers improved load retention and increased comfort in load and carry operations.

With loading operations in mind high dump and roll-back angles of 46 and 34 degrees respectively helps ensure good material retention and stockpiling for efficient truck or hopper loading.

The inner boom of the 550-80WM uses a splayed nose design to maximise structural integrity while also incorporating Z-bar bucket linkage. This system provides 6.5 tonnes of breakout force – an increase of more than 50 per cent on the current 541 Wastemaster. The low boom line also contributes to better all-round visibility, essential in a rapid cycle loading situation.
