Terex Utilities recall

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that Terex is recalling 109 Telelect utility trucks which might have a defect in a lift cylinder.

The units affected are Terex HR 37 and HR 40 over centre trucks built between November 2000 and December 2001. Some of the units were fitted with cylinders that incorporated cylinder rod ends, which were manufactured with material that was not to specifications and which may crack, causing the cylinder to disconnect while in use.

Once notified owners will be able to take the affected lifts to a local dealer for the cylinders to be inspected for cracks, while the material is tested for hardness.
