New Grove for Greving

German based crane rental company Greving has taken delivery of a new 300 tonne Grove GMK6300.

The new crane was sent to its first job directly from the Grove production facility in Wilhelmshaven, following an official hand-over ceremony.

At the hand over (L-R) Andreas Greving, Frank Lichtenburg of KranAgentur Werner, Inge Greving, Claudia Greving, Rainer Greving, Thomas Greving; and Christoph Greving.

The first job involved the demolition and replacement of six agricultural silos for Haneburg & Leusing in Ostbevern. The silos were 30 metres high and 15 metres in diameter and weighed six tonnes. Most were lifted to a radius of 64 metres. The crane was rigged with 53 metres of luffing jib on a 43 metre main boom. The job was due to take two weeks but thanks to the efficiency of the new crane was all done in a week.

“The GMK6300 has excellent lifting capabilities,” said Andreas Greving, one of the owners of Greving. “Our operator says that the crane has extremely smooth functions and is easy to rig. Both helped us finish this project ahead of schedule. We have experience with these demolition and replacement projects. But we were still impressed with how quickly we finished.”

Greving purchased its GMK6300 with 61 metres of luffing jib and 51 metres of fixed jib to add to its 60 metre main boom. The crane was purchased through Manitowoc’s agent for Germany KranAgentur Werner.

Greving is a family-run business with headquarters in Ahaus, West of Munster, close to the Dutch border – it also has 10 regional offices. There are 30 cranes in its fleet, the largest being a 350 tonner, and are spread across 10 regional offices. In addition to crane rental the company operates a 24-hour demolition and transport business.
