5,000 tonne crane for Asian Lift

Keppel Nantong Shipyard of China, has won a £143 million contract to build a heavy lift floating sheerleg crane for Asian Lift.

The 5,000-tonne crane, Asian Hercules III, is scheduled for delivery in 2013 and according to Keppel, will be the largest heavy lift sheerleg crane vessel in the world.

The new crane’s will be based in Singapore serving the offshore oil and gas and marine markets in South East Asia. The vessel will measure 106 metres long, 52 metres wide with a hook height of at least 172 metres.

Asian Hercules III will join the 3,200-tonne Asian Hercules II and a number of smaller floating cranes in the Asian Lift fleet.

Asian Lift II


Singapore based Asian Lift is a joint venture between Keppel and Smit that has been supplying such cranes since 1985.
