Hi-Lift takes on Matilsa

Spanish based aerial lift manufacturer Matilsa has formally appointed Hi-Lift Access as its UK distributor.

While the deal was concluded at the recent Apex show in Maastricht, the formal contact came into force this week. The Mansfield based company, managed by Mark Weston and his two sons Alex and Jordan, will provide a full sales, service and parts operation for the UK, including Northern Ireland.

Hi-Lift Access was established five years ago by Weston and has specialised in tracked access equipment, in particular operator provision, service and maintenance. The company has also run a property maintenance service using its experience in finding access solutions.

The company will offer Matilsa’s full range of products which includes trailer-mounted lifts to 17 metres and self-propelled boom lifts to 21 metres all of which can be fitted with levelling outriggers for working on slopes.

Vertikal Comment

Matilsa makes a good product and is not new to the UK market, however the challenge of competing with an extremely strong domestic producer in the shape of Niftylift, coupled with the high euro, has limited its success in the past. Although a few machines have been sold and have, we understand performed well.

The company has a few products where it has a real edge though, including its Rough Terrain articulated boom lifts with levelling jacks and road rail attachments. The three models topped out by the 63ft platform height Parma 21D, should prove popular and Hi-Lift ought to be able to carve out a very respectable niche market for the brand.
