Terex introduces 45 ton Crossover

Terex has launched the 40 tonne/45 ton Crossover 4500 at this week’s ICUEE show in Kentucky.

The new crane is more of a large boom truck with cab, although it is clearly related to the company’s larger Crossover 6000 and has some features found on more traditional truck cranes.

The superstructure for example comes from the 40 ton Terex T340-1XL telescopic truck crane, and offers 360 degree lift capacities, thanks to the X-pattern outrigger design from the 6000. The outrigger design eliminates the need for the front jack, and isolates the commercial truck chassis from lifting stresses.

The crane’s three outrigger positions two metres, 5.5 metres in mid-position and 7.3 metres fully extended, provides flexibility to work in congested spaces. The crane can be fitted to any commercial chassis that conforms to the crane’s loading standards, giving buyers more choice.

The four-section 32 metre main boom has two swingaway extension options, a 9.8 metre fixed length or 9.8 to 14.9 metre extendable, both offer 15 or 30-degree offsets. The 45 ton rated capacity is at 2.7 metre/9ft radius.
