First Liebherr LTC in Australia

The 45 tonne unit launched at Bauma last year has been purchased by Adelaide based Halls Cranes. The crane landed in Australia in mid-September and went directly to the CICA Crane Conference on the Gold Coast before being delivered to Halls.

The LTC will be used for general taxi crane work, especially where tight space is a factor, but it is likely to be kept busy for a while on the South Road Superway project, the largest single road construction investment in South Australia – ever. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2013, the 1045 should be ideal working in the confined space alongside the open traffic lanes.

John Hall who founded the business in 2001 said: "We have always set high standards for ourselves in how we run our business, whether that be employing the best personnel or buying the best equipment available. For us, Liebherr is the Rolls Royce of the crane industry”

Hall has over 25 years experience in the crane business and started the company with a single crane, building it into one of the more respected small to medium sized crane businesses in the region. One of the factors that has helped the business grow is Hall’s eye for a new product or concept that might help his customers with their more challenging lifts, or that might give his company an edge. He was one of the first to ‘get’ the concept of spider cranes for example, adding a Unic URW-706 to his fleet, other cranes include the Kato MR100 RT/City At and a number of 20 and 25 tonne Frana articulated cranes.

The same applies to the new Liebherr which includes the dual position single cab, 36 metre, five section main boom and bi-fold 13 metre swing-away extension with a short 1.5 metre jib integrated into it which can be offset by up to 60 degrees.
