Tadano launches four new RTs

Tadano has launched four new Rough Terrain crane models with capacities from 30 to 80 tonnes.

For the North American markets these cranes will be known as the GR-350XL, GR-550XL, GR-750XL and the GR-1000XL with capacities of 31.8 tons, 50 tons, 68 tons and 90.7 tons at 2.5 metres respectively.

Tadano’s RT cranes are its most popular accounting for about 30 percent of its total exports. The new models offer improved performance and are , according to Tadano, more environmentally friendly. Tadano says it is aiming them primarily at the energy sectors in North America the Middle East and Russia. While also hoping for good sales into the mining sectors in South America, Australia, South Africa and Russia.

The main feature of the new cranes is the rounded boom profile – fitted to all models except the GR-300EX – made of lightweight, high tensile, high strength steel. Tadano claims that it provides each model with the longest boom in its respective class. (The main boom lengths range from 31 metres to 47 metres).

The new range also features the newly developed ‘fuel monitor system’ and ‘eco-mode system’ which reduces fuel consumption by adjusting engine speed during crane operation, and ‘positive control system’ which reduces fuel by restricting hydraulic pump performance when the engine is idling.

Tadano has also fitted its AML (Automatic Moment Limiter) which it says imakes the crane seasier to operate, more versatile and productive, it incorporates asymmetric outrigger extensions. This system has been well proven in its domestic Japanese market.

The range also features Tadano’s Hello-Net Service which allows customers to remotely check and manage the operation and maintenance record of the crane via the Internet. Again this has been available in its domestic market for a number of years.
