Nationwide is part of the Lavendon group which has had its headquarters in Lutterworth since the early 1990’s.
Lavendon Access Services’ sustainability manager Joe Keely, who met the players for their team photo last month, said: “It’s important for our business to make a positive impact on the communities we work in, whether that’s at one of our depots throughout the UK or at our head office here in Lutterworth.

Lutterworth Athletic’s Under 17s are currently in fifth place in the MDH Teamwear Leicestershire Youth League division one. Liam Spierin, the club’s under 17s manager, said: “I am delighted that the team has received this sponsorship from such a prestigious company. It means we have a brand new playing kit and tracksuit for each squad member.

“Without the support and generosity of local companies such as Nationwide Platforms, Lutterworth Athletic would struggle to provide the children of Lutterworth, and surrounding villages, with the opportunity to play competitive football.”

In a way initiatives such as this can do much more than support the local community. The crane and access industries, along with the wider equipment rental industry, have struggled for many years to attract ‘new blood’. The International Powered Access Federation and other similar associations have long talked about how we might achieve this.
One way would certainly be to follow Nationwide’s lead and sponsor youth teams in sports or activities such as this, in order to spread the word and perhaps open a few eyes to the fact that there are opportunities in what is an exciting and still growing industry?
