Crane operator fatality

A crane operator died last night at the Thyssen Krupp stainless steel plant in Calvert, Alabama, after he was crushed between two large steel coils.

The man Joe Dudewicz was, we understand, lifting one of the coils with an overhead crane when he inadvertently created a crush situation.

Thiesen Krupp expressed its distress to his family and colleagues, the flags outside of the plant were placed at half-mast and the plant, which is to the north of Mobile, was shut down for the night. An investigation has opened to discover how the incident occurred.
