Harness saves life

A harness and lanyard saved a man’s life yesterday after he fell from the suspended platform he was working from in Kips Bay, Upper Manhattan, New York.

The platform was around six floor up when the man somehow went over the side. The harness and lanyard caught him and he was left dangling for around 20 minutes or so before an aerial lift arrived to rescue him.

The man was left dangling for around 20 minutes but apparently escaped serious suspension trauma injuries

There were two men working from the platform at the time of the accident, and the man who fell said that he had simply lost his balance. How that happens from a fully guard-railed platform is another issue.

The man was taken to hospital on a stretcher, but was thought to be free of any serious injuries.
