RKP Access Platforms up and running
A new UK-based truck mounted rental company - RKP Access Platforms – formed by a former employee of ES Access is now fully operational and expanding its fleet from its base in Tyne and Wear in north east England.
The company was formed around six months ago by Paul Hunwick, son of Ronald Hunwick, brother of the late Keith Hunwick, the founder and former owner of ES Access.

ES Access was a prominent North East access rental company controlled by Keith Hunwick with the help of the family, until his untimely death in June 2008. Although the company continued to operate after his passing, it went into administration in 2010. Paul Hunwick says that he, his son and three nephews had no direct managerial influence in the operations of ES Platforms and were sad to see it close.

RKP Platforms has eight truck mounted platforms including this Bronto S34MDT
Most of the ES fleet was sold in two public auctions and Hunwick purchased five units ranging from 12.5 to 22 metres. Since then he has added more modern and versatile machines such as a GSR Skyking E228 TJ and a Bronto S34 MDT. RKP currently runs eight truck mounted platforms with working heights up to 34 metres.
“With the encouragement of my three nephews and son I felt I owed it to my father and brother to continue the business after they had worked so hard to build such a reputable company in the access industry over 25 years,” said Hunwick. “The initials R.K.P came from the names Ronald, Keith and Paul and hopefully we can provide users with an alternative choice for truck mounted platforms in the North East, Cumbria, North Yorkshire and border regions.”
