European crawler market = €16m per year
The annual European market for crawler cranes is currently about €16 million says Tsutomu Kimura, Managing Director of Kobelco in Europe. He estimates that Kobelco has 15 to 20 per cent of the market.
Kimura says that the European market is very different from the US and Japanese markets in several ways, not least of which is that: "“The European user is aware of what is possible - he knows the products and standards made by laws and regulations. From this position the customer also makes other, stricter demands".
Kimura also noted that in Europe cranes are moved much more often than in the US or Japan where it was not unusual for a crane to work on only three or four sites per year.
