Effer win Syrian order
Italian articulated truck loader producer, Effer has started to deliver a 15 unit order from SCOT, a subsidiary of the Syrian State Petroleum Company. The order is for 30 tonne/metre Effer 310.00.3S cranes with a maximum lifting capacity of seven tones and a maximum horizontal outreach of 10 metres.
The contract calls for complete delivery units to be supplied for the transport of the steel pipes for the construction of the oil-duct (pipeline) that will convey oil from the northern Iraq oil fields up to the Syrian Ports on the Mediterranean Sea.

The cranes are fitted to an Isuzu FTR 6x4 tractor unit fitted with pipe racks which tows a dolly trailer. This type of vehicle and crane is a new transport/delivery concept for the Syrian oil company and according to Effer allows the truck to unload its load of steel pipes very quickly as it proceeds along the pipeline.
The short overall length of the tractor unit limited the type of crane to an articulating model, to allow easy stowage behind the cab for travel.
