Sany builds crawler cranes in India

Chinese manufacturer Sany has inaugurated its new fully integrated crawler crane production line at its plant in Chakan, near Pune, India.

The plant will produce the company’s most popular, higher volume crawler crane models, including the SCC500E, SCC800C, SCC1500D and SCC2500D, in order to capitalise on the growing popularity of crawler cranes in the region.

Crawler crane production is now underway at Sany India


The new production line was formally opened in a ceremony early this month, attended by the Chinese consul-general Niu Qingbao and the local member of India’s legislative assembly - Dilip Mohite Patil, along with major customers. Sany India managing director Richard Deng and chief executive T.R. Badarinarayan, hosted the event.

Zeng Zhihong, sales director of Sany Heavy Industry India said: “The plant has begun with the production of all popular models of Sany cranes in India. With this state of art facility, Sany aims to achieve higher customer delight through faster delivery, better product features and wider range of optional attachments.”

“The Chakan plant will act as a substitute for import of cranes all the way
from China.”

Sany India


Sany first entered the Indian market in 2002, establishing a Research & Development centre in 2007 and its $70 million production facility in April 2010. It sells a wide cross section of its product the country, including concrete pumps, graders, crawler and truck cranes, drilling rigs and pavers.
