Ainscough acquires West Country

UK based crane rental company Ainscough has completed its acquisition of Plymouth based West Country Crane Hire Ltd from the Metters family, led by managing director Brian Keith Metters.

As a result of the acquisition, which was agreed on Friday, West Country’s Devonport Dockyard facility in Plymouth has been rebranded as the Ainscough Plymouth Depot.

West Country Crane Hire, was established in 1984 and runs a mixed fleet of around 15 or so All Terrain cranes with capacities up to 100 tonnes. The company was financially stable with a relatively strong balance sheet.

Neil Partridge, managing director of Ainscough Crane Hire, said: “I am delighted to announce our successful acquisition of West Country Crane Hire – the acquisition truly completes our national network. The Plymouth site will operate as an Ainscough depot immediately, and we look forward to working with employees, customers and suppliers.”

Brian Metters added: “My wife and I have enjoyed running the business, and we are delighted to be passing it into safe hands.”
