Multitel SMX250 for Higher Access

UK based spider lift specialist Higher Access has taken delivery of the first 25 metre Multitel SMX 250 spider lift in the UK.

The company only purchased its first Multitel unit, a 22.5 metre SMX 225, at the end of last year and has added further units since. With an overall weight of 2,660 kg the larger SMX250 can still be transported on a two axle plant trailer, towed behind a heavy 4x4, such as a Land Rover.

The SMX250 offers up to 11.65 metres of working outreach, has two outrigger settings - standard and narrow - with full 360 degrees rotation in both configurations.

Overall stowed length is 4.8 metres, and if the cage is removed the overall height drops to 1.92 metres making it easier to pass through standard doorways. Platform rotation is a full 180 degrees.

Peter Ashburner of Higher Access said: “Adding the Multitel SMX 250 was a natural step for us, we find that in addition to the general work that many platforms can do the Multitels can do jobs that cannot be done by other platforms. They are quick to operate, on both diesel and electric, are very compact so can get into tight or more difficult to access areas and with their light weight and low floor loadings can be used in areas where a heavier unit would not be allowed.”
