More Skykings for eircom
Irish telecoms group eircom has ordered a further 95 Skyking/GSR van mounted lifts following a successful trial and initial order last year.
eircom took delivery of its first ever order with King Highway Products in June last year when it purchased 34 van mounted lifts. Following the successful integration and reliability testing of the initial units, a subsequent order for 95 has now been placed.
As part of the initial order eircom evaluated King’s hybrid electric design and have now included this feature on all vehicles to be supplied in the new contract. The new SkyKing 125RA lifts will be mounted on Fiat Ducato four tonne vans and will and will be used for the installation and maintenance of the telecoms network across Ireland.

The 125RA lifts, the superstructures of which are built by GSR, have a number of key modifications to suit eircom’s operations, including reinforced plastic walk-in baskets. The two orders from eircom have a combined value of around £5.2 million.
Willie Garbutt, eircom’s national fleet manager said: “We are very happy with our partnership with King. They took our engineering needs on board and worked with us to develop a durable and reliable product. We were particularly impressed during our 2011 delivery programme with King’s willingness to liaise with Fiat, our chosen van supplier, and with how quickly King worked to adapt its product to meet our engineering needs.”
