Paul Robeys 1948 -2012

We can sadly now confirm that access industry veteran Paul Robeys, founder and managing director of access rental company Robeys-Huet has died aged 63.

He passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 21st, following a two and half year battle with cancer.

The funeral service was held yeserday, Thursday July 26th, in Enghien, Belgium He leaves behind his wife Janine, four children - Philippe, Olivier, Caroline et Barbara and seven grandchildren.

Robeys spent most of his career in the access industry having joined the UpRight group in 1976, managing its Brussels based affiliate Vectur Loc-Echaf, which was later renamed Instant Belgium. He also looked after the company's Swiss affiliate for a while and assisted in its sale.

He and his wife established a small ladder business Maison-Huet in 1986 which he joined full time in 1992 renaming it Robeys-Huet. The company has thrived as both an access equipment dealer and rental company.

We have received a message from his son Philippe Robeys saying:
"Our dad passed away peacefully this Saturday, after entering a coma last week, after two and a half years of battle against cancer following a stroke, he was 63. He was very brave and worked until the end."

"The family wishes to thank all the friends and colleagues in the industry for their overwhelming support and participation at the recent funeral."

My condolences for the family. Another access veteran left us. Paul certainly was one of the pioneers in this business.
