Steve Jones, a director for Freedom, confirmed that an internal investigation is underway, the Health and Safety Executive is also conducting an investigation into the incident.

A later statement from Freedom said: “Freedom Group can confirm that an employee was injured while working at Cherry Green, Royston, on Thursday, August 9th. The employee is in a stable condition. A full investigation is being undertaken to understand the cause of the accident. The safety of our employees, contractors and the public is our highest priority."

“It would be inappropriate to speculate on the cause of the accident whilst investigations are ongoing.”
