Challenger for SCH

UK crane rental company SCH Site Service – a division of Finley Structures – has taken delivery of new 55 tonne Terex 3160 Challenger All Terrain crane.

The three-axle 3160 has a 50 metre main boom, offers a 35.6 tonne capacity at a four metre radius. It can be operated independently by a single person while remaining under an axle load limit of 12 tonnes.

Andy Braid, construction manager for SCH, said: “The Challenger represents a significant investment which will enable us to deliver a more extensive and versatile service to our customers. It will give us more flexibility and manoeuvrability in confined spaces which, combined with its exceptional lifting capabilities, will allow us to move into the more demanding and higher end of the market.”

The operator of the new crane Jeff Lawrence added: “I am delighted to be the designated driver for the Challenger. My experience so far is that it is an extremely smooth and stable crane to operate, with lifting capacities that far exceed my initial expectations.”

SCH Site Service is the crane rental division of Finley Structures which handles steel erection and installation. It operates out of its recently purchased premise in Aycliff Business Park, County Durham and has a fleet of three cranes.
