Red Hot Riley
Gill Riley, managing director and co-founder of mini crane and lifting equipment company GGR Group, was honoured at last week’s Red magazine’s Hot Women Awards 2012.
Riley was highly commended in the “Pioneer” category which recognises ‘trailblazing women’ and was chosen as a stand-out entry by the glossy women’s monthly magazine for showing confidence, determination and can-do attitude in the male dominated construction industry.

In just 15 years the mum of four has transformed GGR from the small, family run business she started with her brother Graeme, in Rochdale with £5,000 worth of investment. The company has gone from strength to strength, having twice made it onto the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 businesses list.
The GGR Group now has three branches, employs around 120 staff and has 30 official dealers distributing Unic mini cranes for the company throughout Europe.
Selected by a panel of 10 judges which included Red’s editor-in-chief Sam Baker, TV presenter Lauren Laverne and entrepreneur Karren Brady, Riley was recognised for her achievements alongside other successful women such as Olympians, authors, bloggers and broadcasters.
“I was surprised and thrilled to be part of this year’s Red’s Hot Women Awards shortlist and also very proud to be representing GGR and all professional women in the construction industry,” said Riley. “I hope it will show Red magazine readers that with plenty of hard work and determination, women can make their mark in this industry.”
