Geda completes new facility

German based hoist manufacturer Geda has completed its new state-of-the-art production building at its Asbach-Bäumenheim site.

Construction on the 3,300 square metre hall began in the spring and was ready to start producing large hoists at the end of November.

All SH and PH hoist product ranges, which offer lift heights of up to 400 metres, will now be manufactured in the new hall, which is equipped with state-of-the-art production equipment, including specialist test equipment and documentation tracking.

The €3.6 million building incorporates a special 14.5 metre high test tower with five test stations which can be used to carry out comprehensive tests through to the customer's final acceptance of the lift.

The structure is subdivided into different areas, with almost half of the internal space dedicated to a materials store with an adjacent despatch department from where the completed lifts are shipped worldwide.

Meeting, training and exhibition rooms are located on the first floor and are designed to handle customer visits and meetings in addition to training courses and other seminars. The second floor is dedicated to archive storage.

Geda managing director Johann Sailer said: "This investment was necessary so that we can continue to comply with high quality and production standards and also to meet the increasing demand on an international level. The new hall will enable us to service our customers requiring big lifts and who operate in the project business even faster. We want to retain our market leadership position and we see great potential here."
