PSR invests in WebFleet

Leading access service provider PSR - the new name for the amalgamation of the IPS and APS service operations – has invested in TomTom WebFleet – track and trace telematics technology which gives real-time visibility on the locations of all its 23 mobile service engineers. The system allows managers based at its head office in Telford, to send text messages via the system to re-route a driver, as priority jobs come in.

WebFleet is an online application that allows companies to manage their fleets from any PC with internet access. Along with improving tracking and communications, it can also monitor driver response times, driving/idling ratios and produce quarterly efficiency reports.

Platform Service & Repair (PSR) has invested in fleet tracking technology.

With its engineers visiting hundreds of customers each week – on scheduled visits for inspection and maintenance as well as emergency call-outs to repair broken machines - PSR needed a cost-effective way of optimising the service fleet to ensure the fastest possible response to call-outs.

Kevin Shadbolt, operations director for IAPS Group, which owns PSR, said: “Every hour of down time on an access platform costs its owner money in lost production or hire revenues. TomTom WebFleet will help us to provide the fastest possible response times, plan our jobs more effectively and make the best use of our fleet and highly trained operatives. An added benefit is that we will save an estimated 15 per cent on our fuel by sending the closest engineer to each job. This will help improve efficiencies and lower our fleet’s greenhouse gas emissions.”
