The five axle Palfinger P900

The new P900 is mounted on five-axle 48 tonne Scania chassis, offers 32.3 metres of outreach with a 530kg capacity, while maximum platform capacity is 700kg. The unit can also reach up to 22 metres below ground level. Gross vehicle weight is said to be well under the 48 tonne capability of the chassis.

The outrigger footprint is 7,255 x 7,200mm while the fifth front axle can be hydraulically extended when working on slopes to provide extra stability without the need for a front jack.

The new Palfinger P900

Stephan Kulawik of Palfinger Platforms said: "With a working height of 90 metres and a basket capacity of 700 kg, we have no competitor that we need to look up to with the introduction of this new model."

The full details of the new machine will be revealed at Bauma, including its number of novelties like a hidden extra-large fuel tank - with the standard external tank left as a dummy in order to foil thieves.

The 90 metre unit will be popular for wind and other high reach applications such as bridge inspections
