Kanson adds first Grove

Kanson Crane & Heavy Transport has taken delivery of the first 300 tonne, six axle Grove GMK6100L in Hong Kong.

The GMK6300L, which was delivered at the end of last year, boasts a seven-section, 80 metre main boom, 36 metre bi-fold swingaway extension plus two inserts, and features all-wheel steer and independent hydro-pneumatic suspension.

Kanson says that it has been adding cranes to help meet the needs of a booming crane rental market in Hong Kong, adding that a shortage of operators is pushing rates up by around 10 percent a year. Founded in 1994 by Nelson C.K. Kan , the Kanson fleet has grown to more than 50 cranes with capacities ranging from 25 to 500 tonnes. Until now the bulk of the crane fleet was made up of Tadano and Liebherr models.

Kan said: “After extensive research and comparison of cranes available in the market, our team chose the GMK6300L as the most suitable crane to fill the gap in our product portfolio. The Grove GMK6300L has a long boom perfect for tower crane erection. We also have considerable work to do on high-rise structures as well as replacement of old buildings in Hong Kong. The 6300L will be the ideal solution for all these applications.”
