August 17th 2005:
Re: SGB Letter to Customers – 12th August 2005

SGB is aware of yesterday’s joint statement made by Laing O’Rourke and BAA in which they refer to SGB’s letter of 12th August 2005.

The letter reminded SGB’s customers of actions taken and advice offered in August 2003 when, as part of ongoing safety procedures and quality management, it was discovered that one batch of threaded shoring adaptors from the manufacturer had non-standard threaded stems.

In the letter of 12th August, SGB repeats the support offered in 2003 that, if users have any of these adaptors, SGB will arrange for one of its staff to visit and examine equipment either on site or in storage, whether or not SGB supplied the equipment.

While investigations into the tragic accident at T5 are ongoing, the causes of the accident are not established and therefore, SGB believes it would be improper to speculate on the causes or comment at this time.
