Record quarter for Wacker
Telehandler and compact equipment manufacturer Wacker Neuson has announced first half revenues up five percent and achieved a new quarterly record.
Total revenues for the period were €586.1 million, up five percent, and although the company’s first quarter revenues fell 6.2 percent from the previous year, second quarter revenues increased 28 percent to hit a new record. Pre-tax profits for the first half fell 19.3 percent to €36.8 million after jumping fivefold in 2011 from €9.1 million to €46.7 million.
A breakdown by product type shows that Compact Equipment revenues, which includes telehandlers, rose 19 percent with its Light Equipment and Service sectors increasing 12 and 14 percent respectively.
The company reported a rise in order intake at the close of the first half year 2013 however its overall forecast for the year remains unchanged, with projected revenues of €1.2 billion – almost 10 percent up on 2012.
Cem Peksaglam, chief executive of Wacker Neuson, said: “2013 got off to a slow start due to sluggish economies in many target markets and poor weather conditions in the northern hemisphere. In the second quarter, however, our revenue rose 28 percent relative to the first quarter – a new record high for the company. Despite a significantly more intensive competitive landscape, we were able to successfully maintain and in some cases expand our position.”
