            Mercedes subsidiaries form African JV
            Mercedes’ commercial vehicle subsidiaries Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation and Daimler India Commercial Vehicles have formed a joint venture, Daimler Trucks Asia, to better penetrate the Asian and African markets.
The joint venture will combine the Fuso sales network, which is present in more than 30 African markets, with Daimler India’s new five-model range of Fuso trucks. Working under the umbrella of Daimler Trucks Asia the company said it intends to build its presence in Africa with a target of selling 290,000 units by 2020. Partnerships with Nairobi based general distributor Simba Colt Motors and Lusaka, Zambia based Southern Cross Motors will also be used for future sales of its range of Fuso trucks made in India. 
Mitsubishi Fuso chief executive Albert Kirchmann, who will also head Daimler Trucks Asia, said: “With Daimler Trucks Asia we are bringing our operations to the next level in order to support our existing and new customers with the right products and the best service in Asia and Africa.”
