Northern Territory chapter for EWPA/HRIA
Australia’s Elevating Work Platform Association and Hire Rental Industry Association have established a new combined chapter in the Northern Territory.
An inaugural combined meeting was held late last week in Darwin, with representatives attending from most major rental companies. The main aim of the meeting was to establish a committee to represent the Northern Territory on the national executive committees and to assist Northern Territory members with any legal, compliance, training, or technical issues they may have.
During the meeting NT WorkSafe inspectors gave a presentation outlining the new ‘WHS Act’ specifically relating to the 'duties of persons conducting business or undertakings that supply plant, substances or structures'.
A key element of the meeting was to form a committee for the local chapter and the following individuals volunteered: Craig Todd – Kennards Hire, Richard Gannon – Haulotte, Darren Cole – United Forklift & Access Solutions, Dominic Miraglia – Coates Hire and Steven Bailey – Wilson Hire.
James Oxenham, operations director at the Hire & Rental Industry Association, said: “It was a very pleasing initial meeting and a great outcome, with members volunteering to serve on the committee.”
