Terex Port Solutions for Germany
German shipping and port operations company Hans Lehmann has placed an order for a Gottwald HMK 5506 mobile harbour crane and three Terex CS45KS reach stackers.
Scheduled for delivery next month, the machines will be used on the company’s new cargo terminal currently being built on the north bank of the River Trave.
The diesel/electric drive HMK 5506 has a 125 tonne maximum lift capacity and a maximum radius of 51 metres. The CS45KSs are able to stack containers weighing 45 tonnes five high on the first row and containers weighing 35 tonnes four high on the second row. They have been fitted with an electronic weighing and safety system, with one of the three being equipped with a piggyback spreader for handling swap bodies.

Hans Lemann’s chief executive Holger Lehmann said: “The HMK 5506 is a crane that provides us with all the technical and ergonomic functions and equipment features that we require for cost-effective and environmentally friendly cargo handling in our terminals. From the beginning, we had the impression that Terex Port Solutions would work with us to find the right solution for our terminal, consisting of the crane and reach stackers, whereby it is a crucial advantage for us to obtain all handling equipment from a single source.”
Peter Hoffmann, managing director of Terex Port Solutions, added: “A manufacturer that can offer a complete package based on state-of-the-art technology creates short communication channels that saves time for its customers. We not only have a comprehensive product range for port handling equipment but we can develop customised solutions for customers for all aspects of their terminals.”
Based in Lübeck, the family-owned company was originally established as Lübecker Stauereikontor (Lübeck Stevedore Company) in 1926. It has since expanded its operations to include a range of port-related services at its four terminals, which include port operations, ready-mixed concrete, building materials and fuel trade.
