12 Kalmar RTGs for Kenya

Kalmar has received an order for 12 hybrid E-One 2 rubber-tyred gantry cranes from Mombasa based Kenya Ports Authority. Set for delivery during 2014 the order is valued around €17 million.

The 45 tonne capacity E-One 2 cranes have a one over five configuration and can stack up to six-plus-one containers wide. They will be fitted with the company’s latest automatic gantry steering system, its automatic stacking inventory, remote monitoring and diagnostics applications.

Raimo Ukkonen, Kalmar vice president RTGs, said: “KPA needed an exceptional solution to help boost productivity whilst reducing lifetime costs of ownership. The Kalmar E-One2 hybrid delivers outstanding performance through its proven reliability. It also boasts the industry's lowest lifetime running costs, consuming up to 50 percent less fuel when compared to conventional gantry cranes.”
