Merlo introduce new products at SAIE

Merlo has replaced its mid range Panoramic models with lift heights of 12 to 14 metres. There are four new models with higher powered “Plus” versions of each making a total of eight new models. Merlo says that the new Panoramics are completely new, both inside and out.

The cabs have been substantially improved with multi outlet air conditioning and the most generous dimensions in the industry.
The boom has been improved and is lighter and more compact with faster extension and lift speeds. Providing more space and better visibility for the driver. All units offer boom side shifting, where the entire chassis rotates by a few degrees either side of centre providing around 660mm of total lateral movement of the load.

The two new compact Panoramics are only two metres wide and offer lift heights of 6.4 and 8.2 metres, with 3,200 and 2,800 kgs maximum lift capacity. The major breakthrough with these two models is a radically new chassis design that eliminates the normal side plates that sit either side of the boom when it is stowed.

In order to maintain and even improve on the structural rigidity, the models feature a boom like, box section chassis, the benefit of which is a significant reduction in the space taken up, all of which has been given over to the cab, allowing Merlo to fit a full width cab on a narrow aisle machine. A secondary feature is a lower centre of gravity.

The two models are targeted primarily at the Agricultural market and this is reflected in the cab fittings and tyres.

Finally Merlo has equipped its Cingo tracked tool carrier with a telescopic boom, which can be fitted with forks or bucket. With a lift height of three metres and a capacity if 200 kgs its potential is limited, Although its outreach of over two metres makes it useful for loading vans and pickups.

Merlo also announced a new dedicated training facility at its plant, which is part of a major expansion. When the current building programme is complete, Merlo will have increased its production capacity by around 45 percent to 6,000 units.
