Tracked telehandler from Moorend
UK specialist tracked vehicle supplier Moorend has developed a 3.2 tonne tracked/crawler telehandler.
The new Four-Track telehandler offers an approximate lift height of six metres and features an articulated, front-end pivot-steer system. Weighing approximately 10 tonnes, it has an overall length of 6.3 metres, an overall width of 2.1 metres and is three metres high.
The company says that the new machine has been tested in extreme and demanding weather conditions and waterlogged environments, and has proven to drastically reduce surface damage as well as offering good traction and a range of economic and operational benefits, especially when used with a bucket for loading duties.

The company said: “The sole reason for pursuing the concept of designing a new type of four-tracked vehicle was to answer the perennial problems of surface damage caused by perpetual movement of wheeled and two-tracked skid-steer machines when working on unstable, uneven or sensitive ground surfaces.”

“The most common problem is when vehicles are working in raw development sites, or open countryside, repeatedly driving over the same soft, wet and muddy surface areas. Tyres inevitably create deep ruts, which in turn generate deep troughs, which then quickly transform into a deep mud quagmire with runoff issues. The design process for the prototype telehandler was strategically planned and developed to address serious physical on-site issues and operational inefficiencies.”
The company is also currently developing a Four-Track crawler carrier with a 10 tonne carrying capacity.
